 ImTOO Video Converter from ImTOO Software Studio is among the most versatile and easy to use video converter software we evaluated. With this program, you can convert your favorite video and audio files to the formats you need. This program supports 150 input and output file formats, including iPad, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, Xbox 360, PSP, PS3, NDS, Wii, BlackBerry phone, iRiver and Creative Zen. With all the right features and a usable application, ImTOO earns our TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award.

You can also manually adjust several advanced features like bitrate, codec and sample rate. You can even extract audio from your video files. However, ImTOO Video Converter is far from perfect. It has a few quirks that you need to get used to; additionally, it does not include editing tools, nor does it have the ability to merge multiple file types or convert YouTube videos, but the manufacturer does offer products that are capable of doing both things.

Input Files    

ImTOO Video Converter can convert 150 different file types, including popular files like AVI, WMV, MOV, MP4 and MPEG. It will also convert less popular files including NUT, M4V, SWF, DV and more.
We really liked that this program supported and converted audio files. You could also rip files directly from the DVD drive using the DirectShow feature located in your file options.
Unfortunately, the ImTOO Video converter cannot convert flash video files, most commonly downloaded from video sharing sites like YouTube. However, ImTOO Software Studio does sell additional programs for YouTube and HD conversion functionality.

Output Files    

One of our favorite features of ImTOO Video Converter is that it caters to the iPod crowd. You can select a specific output for your Apple device without questioning screen dimensions. Simply select your appropriated Apple device, i.e. iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Video or Apple TV and the software will configure your video for you. This program also has specific output selections for PSP, PS3, Zune and Blackberry. However, we would have liked them to include selections for other popular media players like Archos.
ImTOO Video Converter passed most of our conversion tests without any problems; however, we were unable to convert a video to RealVideo (.rm) format. But, it converted our RM files to other formats without any problems.

Features    

ImTOO Video Converter can batch convert files with different file outputs, split output files, adjust aspect ratio, convert audio and extract audio from your videos. It will also keep your ID tags on audio files.
For advanced users, this program can select video and audio codices, video and audio bitrate, resolution, sample rate and frame rate. However, we would have liked the software to have included the ability to merge several videos into one file.

Ease of Use    

If you are using the ImTOO Video Converter, converting your videos couldn’t be easier. The main application, includes a friendly interface and is very basic; however, it has a few quirks that kept it from getting a perfect score on this review.
The most frustrating problem we faced with this program is that you must select your target, or output file, before adding the file you would like to convert. Otherwise, once you insert your input file the software will not allow you to change the output format.
We suspect this is because you can convert batch convert multiple files to multiple outputs. We also had difficulty renaming the file once it was uploaded into the program; however, we found you can just type in a file name in the box with the advanced options. This isn’t an issue if you use the Wizard.

Help and Support    

ImTOO Video Converter includes a comprehensive in-program help guide, online FAQs and email support. Our emails were answered in about a day. However, we would have liked to see the user guide include a search feature.

Summary

Although ImTOO Video Converter doesn’t include everything we were looking for in a video convert program, it was one of the most comprehensive, easy-to-use products we could find.
